Luria of Wye

Luria of Wye - Born May 15, 1963 Reg# 4020176
Luria of Wye weaned 17 calves during her lifetime with a total weight of 9,831 lbs, which was nearly 9 times her own body weight. Her weaning weight ratio on those 17 calves was 105. Born in 1963, she was sired by Prince of Malpas and prior to her death was known as the Angus breed’s oldest living pathfinder cow. Having a mature weight of 1,100lbs, we consider her to be one of the most efficient and productive Angus cows to have ever lived. The Dutch Creek breeding program is designed to replicate this grand old cow by incorporating her genetics into future generations hundreds of times and to do this as quickly as possible. Calves will be born in 2019 which will trace to Luria 77 times or more. Genomic testing of the Dutch Creek cowherd indicate that the genetic qualities from this grand old cow are being resurrected to a higher level of prepotency with each new generation born on our farm.
